If you aren't looking for anything too fancy: (1) There is a place in Oakland that has three seperate menus for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. I can't remember the name of it, but I know that its owned by the same people who own Kahlils II. It's really tiny (only about 4 tables) but they mostly do take-out, what with the college atmosphere and all. I had some really good hummus and some really good felafil there. (I wish I could remember the name of it. Sorry. If I was still in Pgh, I'd look it up for you.) (2) There is a food co-op that my vegan friends go to all of the time. They serve food there, as well as groceries. I'm pretty sure that it is in the Squirrel Hill area, but I could be wrong. I haven't been there (my friends discovered it when I was leaving town), but they certainly rave about it. I'm sure you could find that in the Donnelly Directory. I'm sorry that I couldn't give you specific information, but I'm sure that you could use the leads. (Perhaps we could infer that since the owners of Kahlils run that little take out place, maybe Kahlils has vegan dishes?? Kahlils II is right on Bigelow Blvd.) Good luck! Sorry that I was only a mild help.

For some reason, I remember >a friend of mine telling me about Alexander's and I thought it was >owned by the people who own Kahlils. > THe menu sounds alot like Sito's sandwich cafe on I think Oakland avenue (it's on the same side street as the Oakland Mellon Bank). The food is great the service is terrible to fair. They have three seperate menus-vegetarian, vegan, and the rest. Vegetarian and vegan are virtualy the same, the only difference being feta cheese.
