The Mighty Oak Barrel, Oakmont

We tried this place some months ago shortly after it opened. I
forget the details, but we were unimpressed. Last night we decided
to try again, on the chance that our initial bad impression was
just start-up problems. Good idea! It was _very_ good.

We each had a glass of wine, and then we shared an appetizer
(bruschetta), a main course (pasta putanesca (sp?)), and a dessert
(cheese cake). It was just the right amount of food, and all tasty
and tastefully served. The pasta was quite spicy, not too much so
for our taste but not as we had expected. I commented to the
waitress; she said putanesca means 'whore of the night'.
Hmmmmmm... We ate every bite of everything. All this came to $42
 with (20%) tip.

The selection of vegie foods was perfectly adequate. I didn't
 think to check for vegan.

There was a pepper mill on each table, a nice touch.

It's a bar, with only 9 tables. It's not all that impressive
looking from the exterior, but ignore that fact.

In Oakmont, it's off the section of Hulton Road between the train
tracks and the bridge up a tiny street a block or so from Hulton.
Coming up Allegheny River Boulevard, turn left at Hulton Road (if
you go too far it's obvious you did so), and then right in a block
or so at a (small) sign. From the bridge, take the first left.
