I agree on your praise for Thai Garden. Their name and ownership have changed, but not the cook! Their salad dressing is great, and so is their lemon grass soup. In spite of their excellent curry dishes, their vegetable pad thai is the best around, with lots of egg. Ask for coriander leaves to put in it, and you're in heaven. They have never refused to serve those leaves (also called cilantro). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis F. Galletta Associate Prof. of Business Admin. I've found Thai Garden to be the worst Thai restaurant I've ever been to and the feeling has been echoed by all of my friends who've gone there. The lemon grass soup was inedible and the beans in my dish were amazingly rubbery. I went to Thai Garden last night for dinner. It was great!! I was very impressed with the atmosphere, service, and most importantly food. We ordered the Royal Pad Thai and General Tao's Chicken from their house specialties. Both were well prepared with fresh ingredients and better than most meals at other thai or chinese restaurants in Pgh. I would highly recommend it!! Bev
thai garden (what was called rama) was brought out by india garden next door about 2 years ago. the original rama was our favorite thai rest. in town reallly good stuff. then there was a period after the sale when we would go there and peer into the kitchen to find this indian cook making thai food - the food was terrible and everything stank of too much shrimp paste. i think they have reformed since then but the new indian owners lost the original authenticty that rama had. i ate there with a friend a month ago - he had the lunch buffet which he said literally made him ill. rumours i heard said that the place still does not make enough money and a possible sale are/was being considered. the food (not the buffet) is still ok but nothing to write about. - ritesh
