I had just the opposite experience there last week! I found the fish to be
fresh and the sushi (rice) well cooked. If you were waiting on food try
 sitting at the sushi bar.

 BTW, was the place crowded?

Other than Umi I have not had "better" sushi in Pittsburgh and the price is
 drastically different.

A side note is the place is under new ownership since a couple of weeks ago.

The only places I do Sushi it Benkovits in the strip. I will try Wholey's
now that I have a better understanding of sushi. I also have a couple
pieces at the AYCE lunch buffet at Nagoya in Blawnox. I'm still new to the
sushi thing. Right now my favorite thing to get is the 10-piece combination
 at Benkovits.
