Sree's Foods

After seeing all the positive remarks here, we visited Sree's Foods on
Saturday. There are probably easier ways to get there from here, but we
took the Sharpsburg exit off the Highland Park bridge, which puts you on
Main Street. Just follow that for several blocks, and you'll find it on
your right, caddy-corner to the Dairy Mart. Don't let the big "Family
Restaurant" sign decorated with a hamburger fool you. As you might
expect, the decor is unassuming, to say the least.

We ordered the masala dosa and one of the chicken dishes (I don't remember
the name, but it tasted like a chicken vindaloo to me). This came with
buffet-style all-you-can-eat sambar and coconut chutney.

That was just what we ordered, though. When Sree found out that we were
first-time visitors, he gave us a free dosa to see if we liked it before
we actually ordered it. We also got free appetizers (spicy beef meatballs
and pakoras), and free samples of the three chicken dishes so we could pick
the one we wanted to order. Your mileage may vary, as we were there at
3pm and the place was empty.

It was all very tasty, portions were large, and the dosas were excellent.
Sree was very attentive and helpful (but then again, anybody who puts free
food on my plate is O.K. by me). Total bill for two people: $7. Frankly,
I felt guilty paying that little for that much good food, and so did Stacey,
 so we gave him $12.

 We'll be going back soon.
