Its not really seafood, but try the snapper soup. Its snapping turtle soup and is great. The wonderful thing about regional Phila food is that it really is unique and is based upon the Penna Dutch/german cuisine.

For god junk food, any true blooded Philadelphian would recommend sticky buns and tastykakes. If you go for the latter, then try butterscotch krimpets.

In terms of cheese steaks, note that the cheese is totally optional. Hoagies are wonderful and have more to them than the avergage big size sandwich.

Have fun

We live in Philadephia (calling here Philly is like calling San Francisco Frisco). We haven't found the seafood especially expceptional, but Philadelphia Seafood & Co. has never disappointed. Also, many with big bucks speak highly of Striped Bass.

Hey, I'm from South Jersey and I always call it Philly! But now I live in Hawaii. Every time I visit my mom in South Jersey, I always go to Lamberti's in Medford Lakes. Cross the river into Joisey if you want good seafood.

Or go to Bookbinders in Philly. Or Chanterelles.
