Seafood in Philly
NNTP-Software: PC/TCP NNTP Not sure if it is in your price range but ... absolutely the best seafood i ever had was at Le Bec Fin last year. Poached oysters with a sea urchin source served with steamed spinach and pastery. Absolutely unbelievable. The rest of the meal was also exceptional.

But I find that this can be overwhelming and perhaps overpriced (although the portions are on the large side). My favorite is Philadelphia Fish Company on Chestnut between 2nd and 3rd Streets - just a few blocks away. ************************************************************************** from the keyboard of: Charles N. I don't recall the address, but directions can be easily obtained from just about anyone. I know there are many other excellent seafood restaurants in Philadelphia and it would also be worth your while to go about 17 miles slouth on I-95 to the Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware area. This area is right on the Cheasapeake Bay and has great fresh seafood. Jack Whitehead | What? . . . Me worry? [email removed] | Alfred E. Neuman AT&T Global Information Solutions |

Unpretentious, not too expensive, good quality fish, oysters excellent.

I I think Bookbinder's is just so-so and agree on The Sansom Street Oyster House. I've haven't been there but The Striped Bass on Spruce St. is getting rave reviews and I hear it's always crowded (and expensive). Michael's on 200 block of Chestnut St. isn't bad. For Crabs, Walt's on 2nd St and Dinardo's on Race St. The original Dinardo's is in Wilmington and I hear it's even better but I haven't been there. Walt's and Sansom Street have that local Philadelphia atmosphere.
DiNardo's gets my vote, and both locations are quite good, though the wait for a table is usually longer in Philly than it is in Wilmington, even though Wilmington is smaller... Another favorite of our of late is the Chart House on Delaware Ave. Yes, I know it's a national chain, but it's *excellent*. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Audrey Marsh "Set the gearshift for the [email removed] high gear of your soul..." >[email removed] - T. Marshall Another possibility is Le Ho Seafood Place at 941 Race St. in Chinatown. They sea creatures can be seen swimming around at the front of the restaurant. Little Saigon at 1122 S. 8th St. near Italian Market is a Vietnamese retaurant with seafood a specialty. >-------------------------------------------------------------------

I DiNardo's on Race St. gets my vote. If you can, go to the original in Wilmington. Walt's on 2nd St. has gone down hill. I would not recommend it any more. Service has become unbelievably bad and the food does not approach DiNardo's.
