Yum Wok a.k.a. Lulu's Noodles - thumbs down Went there last saturday, and had one of the most mediocre chinese meals I have had in a long time. I ordered a vietnamese noodle soup bowl with chicken. The chicken was half flesh and half skin, with white, furry bits of fat attached to it. Most unappetizing. My dining companion ordered chicken with basil on noodles. OK. Basil used was dried and not fresh. Total tab for two - $14. Zaws - enthusiastic thumbs up Zaw's is a chinese takeout place on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill. Ordered a couple of dishes from them. The veggie soup with tofu is really nice. Simple clean flavor. I personally really liked their burmese coconut noodle and the beef with tofu. Zaw's makes tasty dishes, which are really good value for money. The average bill per person for takeout is between $5 - $6, and the food's a lot nicer than LuLu's. Order way in advance on weekend nights. We ordered at 7pm and our food was ready only at 9pm. However, its reasonably entertaining to watch the chef cook. The've got a burner that's the size of a jet engine, and each dish is cooked in about two minutes. *********************************************************************** Aziz A. review: Yum Wok and Zaw's
>Zaws - enthusiastic thumbs up >Zaw's is a chinese takeout place on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill. Enthusiastic agreement. We hit Zaw's atleast once a week, and have found it to be consistently YUMMY!! My favorites..sesame cold noodles, hot and sour soup, samosas. Zaw's is definitely the place of choice for Friday night videos and chinese takeout. Patty Martin In Acchord, mixed a cappella www.inacchord.com
The last time I ate at Yum Wok I got really ill. I ordered the Pad Thai (sp) and the chicken was absolutely disgusting - to tell you the truth, I didn't even think it was chicken. It was half raw, slimy, and had a really "interesting" (for lack of a better word) texture to it. I only ate three bites before I noticed that there was something incredibly wrong with it, and I STILL got sick. I don't think I'll ever go back. But that's just my two cents worth.

He ordered fried rice. We ordered at 12:15. At 12:25 they brought me my food. I waited for his so we could eat together. At 12:35 we asked a waitress to check on his food, and she said she'd see why it was taking so long. We never saw her again. At 12:45 we asked another waitress what was happening. She said she'd check on his food and we never saw her again either. At 12:55 we gave up. I finished my cold lunch and we went and got a refund for him. Since he had a 1:15 meeting he was kinda screwed. We picked him up a sandwich at Kane's so he could eat during the meeting. We won't be going back to Yum Wok again. As we were picking up the refund, there was another person in line behind us to get a refund. Apparently he hadn't gotten his food either. Plus, a woman came up as we were leaving complaining that she ordered a vegetarian dish but was given one with beef. They have some pretty serious problems. Rose
