At 18th and Cherry (only 1 1/2 blocks north of Market Street) there is a restaurant called Dock Street. They are a brewpub/restaurant which serves excellent eclectic food for about $10-$15 an entree. It is a fairly sizeable restaurant with very nice decor and they have about 8-10 different freshly brewed beers on tap on any given day. If you are looking for a good meal and delicious beer, try it out, although it can get a little expensive. I have not found any decent cheesesteaks in Center City. If you are feeling adventurous and don't mind dealing with throngs of young skaterats and sullen starving artists, you can get a great cheesesteak and an even better chicken cheeseteak at Ishkabibbles at 4th and South Streets. At 16th and Locust (Locust is 4 blocks south of Market) the Magnolia Cafe serves great cajun/creole food in an awesome dining room. About $10-$20 an entree.
