Nellie's on 5th and Lothrop is the real thing, and Baba D's on Forbes
and Meyran is also quite good. Heed the warnings about traffic with
 returning students -- it's really a mess!!

The last such restaurant I remember eating at was Samreny's, so it's
 been
 awhile.

 Thanks,

We haven't been there in many years. We used to like it a lot, but then we
went once and had a meal that was barely mediocre. We're usually willing
to ascribe one bad experience to the chef's having a bad day, or
something, so we tried again. No better. We haven't been back.

We would appreciate comments from anyone who has been there recently.

I ate there within the last year -- went with a friend and we got many
side dishes (hummos, baba, grape leaves, and sleek I think), salad, and
he also got some sort of main dish with meat (he was *very* hungry :-).
On a scale of 10, everything was at least a 7, and several items were 8
or 8.5 -- ie, it was all pretty tasty. Service was good, considering it
was Sat. night and pretty busy. I think there's an entertainment book
coupon for dinner as well ... good luck!

My sister works at an Oakland hospital. Once a month, Khalil's family needed
to come in because of worms.
