Try Dan's at 11th and Penn, a small, elegant but not stuffy, basement place. Good American wine list. Modern, creative food, price range $12-18. Canal Street Pub and Restaurant makes its own beer; so does the Market House pub. Bravo is an Italian bistro at 12th and Buttonwood. If you hit either Bravo or Dan's, please tell them you heard about them from Kim on the Internet--they'll be thrilled.

Joe's is closing or is closed. He now has a smaller place in West Reading called Bistro 614 which just got a liquor license. Yummy but pricey.

Good luck in Reading!

I need to be in Reading next month, and need a nice place for dinner for 6 of us, median price preferred.

The only place I've ever eaten there is Joe's, which is more of a destination place than we require - we need a pre-show meal...

thanks!

Unfortunately, Joe's is closing, but they have a Bistro on Penn Av. and the prices are a little less than the original. Recommend the Peanut Bar which is located in the 300 block of Penn St. our main street. Food is good, prices moderate and the atmosphere is casual.
