There is Caffee Expresso at the shopping center and Adams and Tabor, just above the Boulevard. Also Berelingas, at 5th and Rockland. There is a third also at Adams and Tabor, the name of which I cannot recall. They are all pretty good.

The Cafe Expresso is still open upstairs, and is not fancy at all, in fact it is what I would imagine a cafe/bar in Portugal would be like. The Lisbon Madrid, with white tablecloths, is downstairs.>

ooooh

Run (don't walk) to BERLENGAS ISLAND at 4926 N. 5th St. It has some of the best Portuguese food this side of the Atlantic. Entrees are around $14 (I think). I would go during the day, however -- not that I don't think North Philly has its charm at night...

Their # is 215-324-3240.
