Pino's in Squirrel Hill

My experience has been good with Pino's. I have mostly tried the 'gourmet
pizzas', but the other dishes look quite good. In my opinion, it is
somewhat more expensive than it needs to be (~$20/pp). It is a BYOB place
with a fairly modest corking fee. Atmosphere is a bit crowded.

If you have not been, I do recommend PI (Valazzio's -- sp?) on Forbes in Sq.
Hill. The fare is similar. The specialty pizzas there are excellent --
though they are hardly traditional pizzas -- they are made with some sort of
pastry crust, so they have a sweet but very pleasing flavor. The portions
seem to be generous, and personally, I love the outdoor atmosphere. They
make a good home-brewed beer in three varieties ($4/glass). The service has
been slow, but I imagine the problem is tied to staffing a restaurant that
just about doubles its size (with outdoor seating) when the weather is nice.

 hi,
pinos is pretty good but very pricey for what you get. they do have
excellent grilled calamari, but the other dishes have been boring. much
better to go down a couple doors to La Cuchina Flegrea and have fantastic
 food for about 2/3 price.

Pino's has good food, and gets good reviews (and crowds). Their problem is
NOISE: they have no soft materials in the whold place, and you can't carry on a
conversation over the clammor of dishes, etc.
