Reading this newsgroup reminds of of long-gone dining experiences in my hometown. Being a Squirrel Hill boy, I have fond childhood memories of the original Weinstein's restaurant and deli which used to occupy the corner of Murray and Beacon streets. It was a bustling, noisy, old-fashioned New York style deli. They had a fire sometime around 1965 and rebuilt the place with garish orange patent leather seats. No atmosphere, and it eventually went out of business. The displaced Weinstein's clientele was sent out to wander the Earth, not exactly homeless, but hopelessly searching for a good meal near Forbes and Murray. They can be seen to this day, sitting forever in George Aiken's and Eat & Park. Also gone from the Squirrel Hill Scene -- Bubbles & Sherman (where Sir Loin is today?) and one of my earliest memories, a hungarian restaurant whose name escapes me diagonally across from Weinstein's, at the corner now occupied by a gas station at Beacon & Murray. Anyone else remember dear departed Pittsburgh restaurants? I can name others in East Liberty, Shadyside and dahntahn. Art Greenwald
