 How about 2 suggestions:

Anthony's (locate between Shadyside and Bloomfield) good pasta,
the only problem is that it is a small place and tends to get smokey.

Dell's in Bloomfield, family oriented and very reasonable
 (especially the early bird special)

Try the eggplant parmasian at both places.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with this one. You might not be able to
beat the price/quantity, but they sacrifice quality for the quantity.

(I eat there, but I set my expectations accordingly)

I have two suggestions, Pasta Piatto in Shadyside and Cafe Giovanni in the South
 Side.
