I just wanted to pass on some info -- I wanted to be certain of all the dates as well... (and thank you James for your kind words about Umi and Mr. Shu!) Mr. Shu will be the guest chef in the lower dining room at Casbah (229 South Highland Ave 412.661.5656) This will start on July 17th, reservations are being accepted at Casbah at this time. The lower dining room will have the same hours as Casbah, but is closed on Sunday and Monday. Reservations can be made by calling Casbah The Omakase will still, of course, be available, but the "hot dish" selections are somewhat limited. While we would love to open up the sushi menu to the entire restaurant... imagine dining on the wonderful omakase, sitting in the patio :-( unfortunatley, it would be impossible to open up the entire restaurant to Mr. Shu's talents -- he is after all, just one man!!! Mr. Shu will be working with Bill Fuller, our corporate chef upstairs at Casbah to allow people the chance to enjoy some of Pittsburgh's tastiest creations! The Casbah menu (and wine list) will be available to all that want to have the best of both worlds. the perfect opportunity to get the people who think they don't enjoy sushi to finally experience it. and now for Soba... We are currently finalizing the drawings for a radically changed dining experience, reversing the floor plan, the bar will now be on the first floor, with two dining rooms on the second floor. more details to follow! Opening in mid-December, with a grand opening on new years eve. In other big B news... We are set to open a two new Mad Mex locations! Robinson Township, in the former Kangaroo's Location set to open in October and another venture outside of the city in State College, PA (to open on September) We are very excited and thankful to all who have been so patient. looking forward to seeing you at Umi, Craig Seder Creative Director big Burrito 412.361.3272
