My Thai review

Eaternet went to My last Friday. There were six
of us and they tried to squeeze us into a double
table (suitable for 4) even though I had made a
reservation the day before, however it turns out one
of us knows the owner and he came over to chat and
moved us to a bigger table.

I had the fresh Thai roll (I think that's what it
was called) which was on the "specials" menu
  - a large noodle sheet filled with Thai sausage,
bean sprouts, and a bunch of other things I can't
recall. It was about the size of a large burrito.
It was topped with *real* crab meat and cilantro
and a spicy dark brown sauce. It was served warm.
 It was very good.

I ordered the Crispy Duck (I'm a duck addict and
can never resist duck if it's on the menu anywhere).
It was also excellent except for uneven spicing.
The duck itself was nicely crisp slices of boneless
duck meat, and lots of it. The first few bites were
just right but then I started finding portions that
were too hot (I had ordered it "1" on a scale of
1(mild)-3(hot). Also some bites were way too salty.
(I noted that over-saltiness was one of the complaints
the PG reviewer had about a couple of the dishes.)
I think if I were to go there again I would ask them
not to use any salt in my food. I think this dish
would have been fine without salt.

I tasted Adam's fish dish (can't recall the name) and
it was delicious. Also tasted the shrimp dish Steven
ordered (something cooked/served in a clay pot) and it
 also was delicious.

For desert I ordered the coconut ice cream with Thai
fruits. It was scrumptious. I also had two glasses
of fresh coconut juice with my meal and they were the
best I've ever had. The coconut must have been very
young judging by the tenderness of the coconut meat
included in the drink. (I'm also a coconut addict. :-))

I also tasted Adam's dessert - banana fritters. They
were kind of boring. I've had much better banana fritter
 other places.

All in all a good meal with friendly efficient service.
Another complaint is the noise level. It was quite a
din. They need some sort of acoustical wall coverings
to dampen the sound. It's quite unpleasant. But the
decor is very lovely. They had some beautiful black/
gold wall hangings that I would kill for.

For me, the prices were a tad high but they weren't
too bad. Fairly good value for the price.
