Morton's of Chicago

A couple of weeks ago, I had to pleasure of receiving a $100 gift
certificate to Morton's of Chicago. I had heard it was an expensive
steak house, and that it was supposed to be quite good, so my husband
and I tried it out on Saturday night.

Very disappointing. We were seated at an awful table. At one point the
waitress stopped and said, "I'm taking a poll. What do you think of
this table?" I had the feeling that they had jammed this table in as an
experiment - one that failed miserably.

The acoustics were terrible. Everyone sits in one large, noisy room.
We had to shout to be heard.

My husband had the porterhouse steak--their specialty. Although there
was nothing wrong with it, I hardly thought it was worth $29.95. In
addition, my lobster was merely listed as "market price." I should have
asked, but I didn't - unfortunately, it turned out to be $54.50. Yikes.
  And everything is ala carte.

Aside from the outrageous prices, the food was good - nothing
 imaginative, but good nonetheless.

Finally, the service was not at all impressive. We were supposed to
have had 2 waitresses - neither one paid any attention to us, except to
drop off food. Once we got our coffee, they disappeared completely. I
finally flagged someone down for a second cup.

To summarize, I was very glad that we only paid for part of our meal,
and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I agree with Melissa. If you want the best steak & service, go to
Ruth's Chris Steak House, PPG Place.
