Is this the fish market in the Waterfront area?
If so yes I went last Tuesday. Overall it was a lovely experience.
- They made a big deal out of the freshness of their fish - never
frozen.
- They offered some interesting preparations as well as the more
standard broiled, steamed, ...
Entrees ran $14 -$20. I enjoyed the horseradish and potato encrusted
salmon. (A little heavy on the potatoes but it was interesting.) My
husband had the blackened sea bass which he enjoyed.
- They volunteered to make substitutions. I personally substituted the
asparagus for the listed steamed spinach.
They were also willing to serve the fish raw, and seared only on the
outside to the table next to ours.
- The lobster bisque was also nice. A nice subtle flavor with decent
chunks of lobster. (not as rich as I have had previously)
- The shrimp/bacon appetizer was well prepared but I personally think
the bacon and the flavoring overwhelmed the shrimp.
- Overall the quality of the seafood (and the veggies) was outstanding.
- Last Tues. there was dining inside and outside on the porch. The
porch had a nice view of the river and the bridge. We chose to eat
inside. Nice atmosphere - cool jazz, and a well paced meal. Our
waitress was a little over eager but did a nice job answering questions,
handling refills, etc.
- They had a decent crowd considering it was a Tuesday. I would assume
that Wed would be similar. The weekends might require a reservation
(if they take them) or a wait.
Hopefully this helps.

Mitchells Fish Market
JAY S. wrote: >Hi, has anyone been there yet? was thinking of going on wed night and >was curious of any feedback. Summary: Good, fresh seafood, slightly uneven service, kitchen needs a bit a work, slightly overpriced. An 8 out of 10. I tried Mitchells Fish Market about a month ago. The food was very good overall and the service was good, if a tad uneven. The seafood was fresh and well prepared, with one exception: one of the appetizers when I went was 'garlic calamari'. For that dish they used some of the thinnest pieces of squid I have ever seen. When the squid is that thin it is quite easy to overcook and as result they end up as little garlic flavored rubber-bands. I mentioned the overcooking to the waitress and she said that the kitchen would re-do the dish, a manager brought the replacement and asked whether it was satisfactory. Nope. Still garlic flavored rubber-bands. They tried a third time and got it 75% correct. By this time my entree had arrived. Hopefully they will either switch to a slightly thicker cut of squid or keep a closer eye on the cooking, as seconds are enough with squid that thin. One of the operating maxims of Mitchell's is "We will serve the fish to your taste'. They do seem to be honoring that.
