It's on Forbes in Oakland, almost as far down as Magee. I've
only been there once but it was good and inexpensive - kind of
like Spice Island but with slightly better decor.

That would be Forbes and Meyran, I believe.
It's called Himalayan Tibetan and is the second
door from the corner on the north side of Forbes,
 west of Meyran.

Only *slightly* better. I think it's lots better. :-)

However we now have Kayla's Place on Penn
between St. Francis and E. Liberty. They
have some African dishes on the menu although
the overall cuisine is eclectic with a Med-
iterranean emphasis. At least you can get
plantains and jollof rice and a couple of
other things and authentic foo-foo. I believe
 the owner/chef is from Zaire.

 Hi
I'm pretty sure the owner is Nigerian. He is a friend of my
brother-in-law, who is also Nigerian. The food is essentially Nigerian (
though I think Jollof rice comes from Senegal or Gambia). The food at
Kayla's is pretty good, but I wish they expanded their African menu.
