La Filipiniana - Review

My husband and I dined at La Filipiniana two Fridays ago, on the
recommendation of friends. This is a summary of our experience.
First of all, the restaurant was kinda hard to find.
Anyway, we got there finally. The waitress was courteous and when she
came to take our drink order, I wanted to clarify that they take credit
cards (since the In Pittsburgh had them listed as a credit card accepting
restaurant). She told us that the machine was broken and so they dont'
take any. My husband reluctantly agreed to walk 6 blocks to withdraw
money from the mac machine, while I would go ahead an place our orders.
We both decided to get the sampler dinners, which looked pretty
 scrumptious from the menu.
Anyway, so I sat at the restaurant, waiting for someone to come by to take
the order, but no sign of the waitress, until about 10 minutes after my
 husband returned.
By this time, I was somewhat disgruntled with the service.
Finally, the waitress shows up and we place our orders. Basically, it was
a choice of 1 appetizer from a selection of 3, 3 entrees from the
selection of about 6, and 1 desert from a selction of 3. We first
ordered our appetizers and entrees, atleast that is all the waitress asked
us for and so I figured she would get our desert selections later.
For the appetizer, I had the mini-egg roll with chicken and mushroom and
plum sauce, while my husband had a dumpling filled with chicken. both
 were good.
For entrees we had Chicken adobo, chicken curry and shrimp curry. They
were also good. We were served 2 cups of warm ginger tea with our meal.
I was looking forward to desert at this time. The choices looked
interesting, since they were mostly prepared with exotic tropical fruits
 (based on the menu)
The waitress came back to pick up our plates and said she would be back
with desert. I then asked for the choices to which she replied that the
chef had forgotten to bring the deserts with her and none of the menu
 choices were available.
We were given flan (a desert that I don't particularly care for). My
husband ate my portion. For $40 (our total bill), I was quite
dissatisfied, especially with the poor service, not only was it slow but
very disorganized and of course the desert was a big disappointment.
I would be very hesitant to return, even though the food was alright.
At this point I cannot recommend La Filipiniana.
