Hmmm... looks like I'm may be too late. But ones I recommend are:

Kawabata, between 2nd and Front Sts. On Chestnut St.
Shiroi Hana, 15th and Locust Sts.
      Ziggy's, 12th and Walnut Sts.
Genji House, 40th and Locust Sts.

The absolute best Japanese restaurant in the Philadelphia area is Sagami, which is located in Collingswood, NJ. It has the added plus of being BYO, which saves on beer, wine, sake costs. I've tried almost all of the others in the area to come to that conclusion. Also keep in mind Meij-en (?sp) on the Delaware river as it has good sushi and a fantastic view, but is rather pricey.
