The service is largely incompetent, but it's a buffet so it doesn't matter very much. The food is pretty good, for a buffet. Star of India on Craig St. also has a buffet, but I think the one on 5th Ave. is better. --------------10CE45816AE5F844C2DB447F Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="adfst1.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Adam Fineman Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="adfst1.vcf" begin:vcard n:Fineman;Adam x-mozilla-html:FALSE org:University of Pittsburgh;Computer Science adr:;;;;;; version:2.1 email;internet:[email removed] title:Undergraduate Research Assistant x-mozilla-cpt:;0 fn:Adam Fineman end:vcard --------------10CE45816AE5F844C2DB447F--

Indian in Oakland

India Palace on Centre near Craig is also good, and I remember them having a fairly nice selection of vegetarian dishes. Although I'm faintly biased because they put a copy of my CMU newspaper review of them in their window. I think they must be the only restaurant in Pittsburgh that actually reads the Tartan.
There's no Indian buffet in Oakland that will have "lots" of vegetarian offerings. I think the best is India Garden on Atwood, a few blocks down from Forbes. They typically have at least two or three vegetarian options. apl PRichter1 wrote: > Hi, > > I'm coming into Oakland next week to meet a friend, and we are looking for an > Indian restaurant, one that has a lunch buffet with lots of vegetarian > offerings. > > I know there are several in Oakland, which is the best??? > > Thanks, Priscilla

I don't find them to be inexpensive at all, considering the amount of food you get. Other places give you more food for the same amount of money. > By and large, I'd say that Pittsburgh offers more and better variety > in Vietnamese,Thai, Cambodian, etc food than in Indian. Unless you want some specific Indian > cuisine, I'd suggest considering the southeast Asian places. You've got to be kidding. We only have *one* true Vietnamese restaurant (Tram's) and a bunch of pretenders that mainly serve Chinese influenced Vietnamese dishes. A couple of good Thai restaurants, 2 Cambodian restaurants (one whose menu is extremely limited). But we have tons of Indian restaurants - India Garden and Taste of India being the best - and then there's Taj Mahal, Udipi Cafe, Sree's, Prince of India, India Palace, Star of India and a few others Kate
