If you drove by and didn't catch the small sign that says "Indian Food", you might not guess at the type of food the "People's Restaurant" (Penn Ave, between Lawrenceville and East Liberty) might serve. Its north indian and its good. I would go as far as to say that it is the best indian food I have had in a Pittsburgh restaurant. The lunch buffet is priced at $5.95 (All you can eat) and is an excellent deal. -Sanjiv

Our favorite is India Garden in Monroeville, with their $6.95 lunch buffet and they even take requests as to what you would like to see on the buffet. I told them I was bringing my sister to lunch to try something new, and asked if they could have Palek Aloo as one of the dishes for that day. There it was. Great food, nice people! I had the samosas - very good, coconut uttapam - excellent, mattar paneer - excellent, yogurt rice - not quite what I expected (never had it before) but it kind of grew on me, and strawberry lassi - good but I had a little trouble communicating with the waiter and he thought I did *not* want it sweet, although I did, so it had no sugar in it and was a little weird. I definitely want to go back soon. Kate
