Thank you to whomever recommended Hong Kong as the best Dim Sum restaurant
in Pgh. I have been to TaiPei's Dim Sum which is very good. But I have
to say that Hong Kong is much much better. I called in advance to check
to see if there were any vegetarian offerings-no meat, chicken, pork,
fish, etc. They were more than willing to help me and prepared special
dishes just for us on that day. Frances, who is the main cook, came out of
the kitchen and discussed each dish with us in advance. She really seemed
to rise to the challenge and was very interested in whether we liked our
food. We intend to go back not only for Dim Sum which, as the original
poster stated ,is only offered during the first Sunday of each month,
but for dinner. Frances says that she can prepare any Chinese dish to
our specifications. The atmosphere is only ordinary but the emphasis is
on the food which I can say is extraordinary. It is well worth your while
to try this place which I had never heard of before. It is next to the
state store in the Dormont Village. Louise Gray

Dumpling House now offers dim sum on Friday and Saturday from 11am-4pm
and on Sunday from 1pm-4pm. I went twice the first weekend they opened
and was very happy with their dim sum both times, particularly their
vegetable dumplings and their red bean sesame balls.

Somone I know, who should probably remain anonymous, has been in
NewDumpingHouse's kitchen, and based on his experience and
observation, he'll never eat there again. Apparently, the kitchen is
filthy... plates of chicken just sitting around on the florr, etc...

I can't confirm this, since I haven't been there, but it should be
pointed out. Mind you, I've eaten NDH food many times, and never been
 particularly dissapointed, so YMMV.

I stand by my statement. The person who made it has been in their kitchen many
times. I think it is appropriate to post when you have a reliable source with
information that the typical person probably wouldn't have.

Again, I've *not* had a bad experience with NDH, but this information has made
 me reconsider eating there.

Should I hear differently, or that conditions have improved, I will certainly
 post.

ps. And, FYI, I've also heard from same person that Oriental Kitchen's kitchen
 is extremely clean.
