I was there a couple of months ago and was not terribly impressed either. Some folks who had been there before said it used to be better, but I personally wouldn't recommend it now.
Pittsburgh, PA
Green Forest - anyone been lately?

The night I was there, the meats were well-cooked (not meaning well done). The sangrias are better than most I've had -- the waitress told us the recipe included both red and white wines, grand marnier and brandy. Considering that you could go drop twice what it costs here at Ruth's Chris or Morton's for one steak, I think it is quite worth the money. The flank steak is excellent -- crispy crust and juicy on the inside. Their business has dropped off a bit with the novelty, which is why I think they only offer 11 or so meats instead of 17. And I still maintain the salad bar is one of the best anywhere in the area, with a wide, fresh variety -- including fruits, hearts of palm, roasted red peppers, etc. Plus you get the hot bar. So, a great salad bar, a decent hot bar, approximately 11 kinds of fire-grilled meats and the option to buy some yummy sangria -- not bad for a little over $20 in pittsburgh. I've only been to Green Forest once, but based on my experience there is absolutely NO comparison to Ruth Chris. The steaks at Ruth Chris are FAR, FAR better than anything I got when I was at Green Forest. Of course you pay for that difference, but I was just astounded that someone would even make the comparison.
