Sree's in Aspinwall (among other places) kicks butt. Check out
their web site, http://www.srees.com, for more info.

A lot of the Indians I know frequent Udipi in Monroeville. It only
serves vegetarian food but they say it is very authentic.

Personally, I like to go to Sree's in Sharpsburg although I know it is
not as authentic. It is a good deal, however.

Udipi Cafe in Monroeville serves southern Indian food. I highly
recommend it. As far as I know, most of the other Indian restaurants in
Pgh serve northern Indian. From this latter group, I personally prefer
 Taste of India in Bloomfield.

In my opinion, none of the restaurants in Pittsburgh serve
food "as served in India". You will have to settle for a place
where they serve food "similar to Indian food".

In my opinion, the India Garden in Monroville is OK. The
one in Oakland is worse. Prince of India in Oakland is also OK,
 and conveniently located.

I've had bad experiences in Star of India on Criag. The people
were making an attempt to be rude. Some of my friends have had bad
 experiences there too.

There is one restaurant on Center Ave. They changed management,
and I've not eaten there after that.

Opinions on my comments are welcome.

 thanks

I like the Indian restaurant in the hotel on Banksville Rd. I don't
know the name of the hotel but the restaurant is Maharaja. It's a bit
odd on the inside but the food is great. I'd love to hear other
 opinions about this place . . .

It's at the Days Inn, just off the Parkway.

Based on the recommendation, my husband and I went last night -- we're
very glad we did. The food was plentiful, tasty, and well prepared and
presented. Not too many customers at 8:30pm, though..which is too bad.
