There is (or was last time I was there) a small restaurant west of Philadelphia (not far from Chestnut Hill - though the actual town name escapes me). The restaurant is called The Spring Mill Cafe.

It is French restaurant housed in an old mill building (house). It is not snooty, but it is very eclectic. They often have special dinners - for Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc. They make these terrific posters advertising each one, and they have a number of these posters up around the one room restaurant. The owner is a French woman, and most everyone else there seemed to be kids (european kids, but kids no less). It has excellent food - much of the fare being French country-style (cassolet, etc.). Now is just the right time of the year to see them. It can be very romantic. They don't have a liquor license so you'll have to bring your own. It is probably my very favorite restaurant ever - but then maybe it was the company :)

Perhaps someone who lives in the area could give you more detail on it's exact location, though I probably have their card somewhere...

bon voyage,

dave
