Dumpling House is having a wonderul set of special dinners for Valentine's
Day and Chinese New Year (February 14 through February 25). A friend and
I went there tonight and were quite impressed with the best Chinese food
we'd had in Pittsburgh. There are three choices of soup and three of
dumpling with each dinner and six different entrees.

The first course is hot and sour seafood soup and their house special seafood
and chicken soup, both of which were excellent. Starving from having spent
the day at the hospital we were quite happy to see the second course arriving
as we finished the first--Imperial dumplings in a lovely red spicy sauce and
green vegetable dumplings that aren't as nice as their dim sum vegetable
dumplings. The third course took a while, but we were able to wait now and
 it was well worth it.

The sizzling scallops were loud enough for everyone to look towards our
table and were breaded lightly and served in a sweet spicy sauce with all
my favorite vegetables from red peppers to shiitakes. The Dragon Dance
was less spectacular, but was beautiful, being served in a basket of fried
noodles alongside which was one of their beautiful violet carved radishes
and topped with six giant fried shrimp in a very delicate and wonderful
 white sauce.

It's a bit late now (your post just appeared at my site though), but these
dinners are $14.95 and are offered every year at this time as well as during
the Christmas season though most of the dishes are different each time.
