The diner on Penn Avenue between Braddock Ave. and Wilkinsburg. I believe it's called Charlies. Quite excellent. Also, it's the only diner I've found thus far that serves grits (er, I mean 'hominy polenta'.) Diners--Need Input Here
If you haven't tried it, the Gato Diner in Tarentum is a lot of fun. They have an old diner that they imported and attached to the back of the Gato motorcycle showroom (you actually have to go through the showroom to get to it). I've been there once, but the food was great. They do get a bit campy, and they focus on old-time specialties (try the malts and shakes), but like I said, it's fun. To get there, take route 28 northeast to the Tarentum exit. Go south into Tarentum, hang a left at when you see the Gato bicycle shop, then take the first right (I think). Anyway, Tarentum is so small, you can't get too lost. ;) Andy

It's on Rt. 50 just as Carnegie is turning into Heidleburg.
