Dim Sum Restaurants in Philadelphia

I've heard that Americans like Joy Tsin Lau, which is probably the closest restaurant to the Convention Center, conveniently enough. All of Chinatown is well within walking distance of the Center, so don't worry about getting too far. Chinatown isn't too big in Philly.

There is a place on the corner of 9th and Race called something like Tsui Hung Chun or something like that (I don't know how to spell it in English) which I much prefer to Joy Tsin Lau for dim sum (or any other meal, for that matter). I once tried Imperial Inn many years ago and found that it was decent. For regular dining I strongly recommend Ming Ju Ge (again, spelling is questionable) near 11th on Race. Shiao Lan Kung is between 10th and 9th, also on Race, and is very consistently good, but I don't think they have dim sum. A great little place is on 9th, next door to Riverside, called something Peking Duck House (NOT Joe's Peking Duck House, mind you).

I know I probably gave you more than you wanted to know, but here's a summary:

My strong suggestion is Tsui Hung Chun for quality of food (dim sum or anything
      else).
If you think you will prefer more American fare, apparently Joy Tsin Lau is
popular, although I honestly don't know why.
A nighttime treat would be Shiao Lan Kung, if you know how to order. They are
probably consistently the best, in my book.

Happy eating!

I don't know if you're familiar with Phila but the Convention Center is located right in the middle of Chinatown where the are probably 1000 Chinese restaurants. The only restaurant that *I* know of that specializes in dim sum is Susanna Foo which is regarded as the best by some, but is not in China town. It's at 15th & Walnut, not too far away. Other Chinese places I could recommend are Joy Tsin Lau 1026 Race St, Ho Sai Gai 1000 Race St., Joe's Peking Duck House 925 Race, Ray's coffee House on 9th St, and you really should try Vietnamese food at Vietnam Palace on 11th St above Race.
