Marcy, Although it's not in the western suburbs, we've had good experiences dining with our three kids (ages 6, 4 and 1) at the new Cap City Diner at the Waterfront in Homestead. It's casual with a wide-ranging menu--lots of sandwich, dinner and dessert options (free jars of Heinz baby food are also available). They have a children's menu and the staff is helpful and friendly. One of the main reasons this place works well for families is that it's fairly spacious with large booths (all the better to corral the kids!) When there is enough space among the tables, disturbing other diners is less likely, IMO. Another bonus at Cap City is the open kitchen, which our 6-year-old finds highly entertaining. Be aware though, that it is pricier than Ritters and other "real" diners. --Cheryl Excerpts from netnews.pgh.food: 1-Sep-100 Child friendly?? by "Marcy Robb"@entigo.com > to get back into reading newsgroups again... > > I'm hoping to draw on the collective wisdom in this group to compile a > listing of Pittsburgh-area restaurants that have good food and are > child-friendly (but not chains).
