Agree with Rob's evaluation except for the QUITE good. The salad was delicious, but the Chicken & Potatoes (or Rice) was very bland & tastless. I usually never salt my food but had to do something. It seemed like they just put a bunch of chicken legs (thigh/drum) in a pan of water & baked them, no flavorings at all. This is good as cheap, hot lunch food, and I am willing to go back to get a nutritious lunch (I did love the salad) and try something else on the menu to see if I can come up with a dish that's more flavorful. The service was quick, so it's a good bet for lunch, too. On the whole, I recommend trying Sofia's, and will hold off on any final opinion until I go a few more times. Salad: $2, Chicken & Rice: $3, Chick & Potato: $3.50 Christine

I've probably been there a dozen times (hey, I work in Hamburg Hall at CMU). For what they're worth, here are my comments on what I've eaten there: - veal patties (served w/Bulgarian potato salad, no mayo involved): very good! If you're not adverse to eating veal, definitely try this. - chicken and potatoes: I like these a lot, largely because of the potatoes (which are sliced and appear to be pan-fried) - chicken and rice: chicken was ok, rice is kind of bland - mousaka (sp?): ok. I did it take-out, so it might not be a fair evaluation - salad: very good -- cucumbers, tomatoes, lots of feta cheese, other stuff; no lettuce making up 90% of the bulk here - meatball soup: good - bean soup: seems to be same base as the meatball soup; I thought it was ok but a little bland - lentil soup: pretty good - spinach and feta puff: very good! - grape leaves: good. I had them with the yogurt. (I usually hate grape leaves.) - crepes with honey: yummy! Monica http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~mjc/Home.html

I've been there twice so far. The first time I had the veal patties, which were absolutely delicious. I posted a review earlier about that. The second time I tried the stuffed peppers which were also very good, covered with a nice yogurt sauce, although I liked the veal better. Definitely explore some more! Julio
