Buffalo Cafe

On Friday, I was at the new Buffalo Cafe on McKnight Road.
Supprisingly, it was not crowded for a Friday evening at 6pm.
The first thing I noticed was nothing on the menu (with the ex-
ception of 200 wings) was more than $8. They have a few beers on
tap, but about 100 bottled beers. My friend and I ordered chips
and salsa. The chips were hot and fresh, but the salsa was a bit
on the weak side. I ordered a 1/4 roast chicken dinner that came
with rice and another side. They had quite a few to choose from, but I
picked the corn. The chicken was very good and the corn was perfect.

My friend ordered a cheesesteak sandwich and he said it was good. Not too
messy, but full of peppers and onions. it came with potato chips, but
these were the chips like you would get at Hot Licks (made fresh, not
from a bag). All in all, I would have to give this place a thumbs up!!

After some of the discussion here about Quaker Steak and Lube and
the comparison between Buffalo's Cafe, I decided to check it out for
myself. I stopped in Saturday afternoon for lunch and ordered 2 dozen of
their wings (dozen mild, dozen hot). They were delicious but the mild
were really mild and the hot were mild (at least to my taste).

Because I was there at lunch, there was a small crowd and I had to
opportunity to meet the owner who is very friendly and happy to learn he
was even mentioned here. I told him I would report back on my lunch.

When eating the wings my neighbor stopped over and raved about the
lunches she has eaten there. She claims it is now her favorite lunch
 spot.

Buffalo's Cafe is located on McKnight Road in a new small mall
next to Kuhns and Pepboys. Stop in, I think you will enjoy your meal and
 the atmosphere.

Hmm.. I have to disagree very strongly here. Hooters has pretty tasty
wings, but even their hottest (Three Mile Island?) wings are pretty
wimpy. Fathead's "Volcano" is easily hotter.

*IF* all you seek is *HEAT*, then the hottest wings I've *ever* had is
at Charlie's (behind Mitchell's Tavern) on Center Ave. Their wings go
from 5 to 10. 8 is hotter than most wings I've tasted, and trust me,
their "10" is pure murder. I struggled through a half-dozen mostly to
get the challenge out of the way! (My face was numb after 3-4, anyway)
Fortunately, you get 22oz Rolling Rocks for $2.25. The wings are served
"wet", with a lot of sauce on the plate: if you're truly a hot-sauce
afficionado, you can use the celery to scoop up the sauce!

 My $0.02.

(one of these days I'll post a review of all the places I've had wings
 in Pgh..)
