Tasty pancakes stuffed with various fillings, and also very good corned beef hash. They have three locations -- on Forbes in squirrel hill, on Walnut in shadyside, and on Forbes in oakland. I'd be interested in finding other good breakfast places, though -- the better items at Pamela's are only available on weekends. --nat

Breakfast?

I've always like De Luca's down on the Strip--whenever I do a Strip day, I start with breakfast there. Mounds of food, great selection, tasty grill, thick chewy Italian bread toast--yum. toodles, gretchen
In pgh.food I read this message from Aaron Jones : >I'm looking for a good breakfast place in Pittsburgh or even a regular >old pancake house. Colleen's Corner, a relatively new location in the Strip, has good breakfast for pretty cheap. The atmosphere is fair at best, bu their "Awesome One" breakfast has eggs, hash browns, pancakes and meat for around $5. It is downstairs from the old PNC location, across the street from the Tedesco produce location.

Ritter's Diner on Baum Blvd. in Shadyside/Bloomfield...great breakfasts! The ultimate in 'diner'... William Aaron J. wrote: > I'm looking for a good breakfast place in Pittsburgh or even a regular > old pancake house. Any suggestions? > > Ano

Trader Jack's is just up the the road, completing a weekend morning's trek....

I live next to Armstrong county and our family will drive to Pamela's for the breakfast every now and then. The breakfast meats are only so-so but the omelets, potatoes and cakes are great.
Maybe it's just me, but I think Ritter's is overrated. I agree with the others with: Krogman's Gab and Eat Pamela's DeLuca's and also would add The Dorstop (Doorstop?) in Dormont. Breakfast at Danny's in Washington County at the Meadowlands exit ... they have a giant pancake and what they call the big eaters club, It took me an hour and a half but I at the whole thing one time. Also breakfast in Carnegie at Koegmans "Gab and Eat" is nice ... they have a mixed Italian grill with Italian bread toast and only are open breakfast and lunch hours. Try either one, they are places where you can fill up on good food for a price that won't leave your pockets empty. John Henry Harrison

A friend recommended this place to me. They have really LARGE pancakes but the ones I had were tough and not too tasty. "Danny" had obviously overmixed the batter. (a real no-no when making pancakes).
