I have 2 very good recommendations for NE Philly (in addition to Gearo's) Pasta Bella on Krewstown Rd just N of Grant Ave, great food and very reasonable Calabrisella (sp?) on Rt 13 just N of city line in Andalusia very good food at reasonable prices

Oops, you're right just SOUTH of Grant in Krewstown Shopping Center BTW, these are Italian restaurants, not steak places (sorry for getting off the topic)

Since you're obviously in the Northeast Philly area, try either of Gearo's locations. The original Gearo's is on the 6800 block of Bustleton, maybe half a mile or so south of Jim's Steaks.

The newer, and much larger, Gearo's is located two or three miles north of Jim's, on Welsh Road, just east of Bustleton. Actually, I prefer the pizza at either Gearo's location more than their steaks, but the steaks are good too. For a really tasty appetiser, if you're hungry and you have a few extra dollars burning a hole in your wallet, order the broiled scallops wrapped in bacon. As far as I can tell, the scallops are real and with the bacon wrapped around them and broiled, they taste fantastic. Stay away from the barbecued foods at Gearo's though, unless you enjoy thoroughly mediocre food. Offering barbecued food at any Italian restaurant ought to be outlawed!

There's also Giovani's on the 7100 block of Castor Avenue which has superb cheesesteaks, and they're huge!

If you want to venture to the South Street area, why not try the original Jim's Steaks? I like the Jim's in the Roosevelt Mall better, but only because there's more items on the menu there and the seating does not require a trip up a set of stairs.

I grew up in the Northeast area and I get back there several times a month, so I know if well. If you have any questions about Northeast Philly, feel free to post them here and I will be glad to respond.
