We tried this as being the only indonesian restaurant in the Pgh area.
First, we got wrong directions from the resaurant but found it eventually.
Second, their emphasis is more mideastern that indonesian.
Third, the indonesian dishes we tried were quite mediocre.
 We won't return.

It's good to know that my original assessment of their
food still holds (actually, my food was worse than mediocre).
I would hate to think I've been avoiding them all these
years if they had improved in the meantime. Marlina
was really great and I'm really sorry they closed so soon.
I wondered why? Not enough capital to keep them going
until they could establish a good customer base? They
certainly weren't open long enough to build up a decent
clientele. We'll I'm going to be in L.A. for 2 weeks in
May and will look up some of my old Indonesian haunts and
try to get my fill before coming back to Pgh.

I am sad to have to agree. On occasion, Bachri's has been spectacular,
but then... we have been there when three of the five items SUPPOSED to be
on a dish were missing! Perhaps they don't have enough business to keep
everything in stock. On New Year's, they were great! Two weeks later,
we had a totally disorganized evening, it took the server 4 trips to
take our order, and the food was mediocre or unavailavble.

They are like the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead...

Wish I could say better, since I have enjoyed their food on more than
one occasion, and have complimented tham on it here.

As a regular customer of Bachri's for many years, I can say that I have never
had anything other than an excellent, authentic meal at this restaurant. At
times the service is slow but I feel that they do a wonderful job and it
compares to the great food that I have had in previous visits to Jakarta and
Holland. Their chicken rendang and soto madura makes my mouth water and
compared to other similar restaurants I have tried in the past, they are the
best!! I am sorry to see negative comments here as I have never had a bad, or
 even mediocre meal.
