1902 Tavern

We just had dinner at the 1902 last Friday. It was *incredibly*
crowded. It took 1&1/2 hours to get our entrees. We were a bit pissed,
because we felt that if they were *that* understaffed, they shouldn't
have taken the reservation we called in only an hour before we got
there. Also, our waitress came by our table and apologized for the
delay, asking "can I get you each another drink?" We said yes, since
her phrasing and tone led us to believe they were most likely
compliments of the house. Wrong. An additional $20 added to the tab.

I liked their house salad dressing (a bleu italian) and my entree
(Chicken stuffed with lump crabmeat and spinach in a seafood sauce) was
good, but that could have been because I was starving!

We've been there several times and have never been disappointed. They've
got some great dishes that combine pasta with fresh seafood.

Expensive, tiny, and forgettable portions. We went there before
a Heinz Hall concert, just because of the Entertainment card.
 Very disappointing.

!902 makes most of its money from lunch and their very good happy
hour, almost meat market like after work business.

I would never even go in this place on a Friday eve, the happy hour
crowd is there for a long time.

Once I saw a guy playing video poker hit a big win, and the bartender
paid him cash from the register drawer, which told me all I needed to
 know about the 1902.......
