I went to grad school there. Tip one is its "orygun" not oragon.
Actually, Oregon had very good fruit and produce, some good sea food.
But very few restaurants worth mentioning.

One suggestion would be "Michael's Landing." I would try the Bouillabase.
Salmon is always a good choice in Oregon as well.`

Be sure to try the local wines. Oregon is starting to get some good
Pinot Noir but its over priced. Amity, '85 or '87 would be nice.
My personnel favorite is Oregon Riesling. Try to get an '89 Alpine.
Oregon Riesling is very good and under valued. $4 at the super market.

Other suggestions would be to drive to New Port on the Ocean. Its about an hour and half if I remember correctly and well worth the trip.

If you're in Corvallis long enough to drive to the coast...
namely, Newport, there is a great brew pub there which makes Rouge ales and an excellent "Smokey" brew...
                  Enjoy!
