Howard,

Try Jakes Crawfish House and Dan and Louis Oyster Bar, both in the downtown area of Portland.

Regards,
Robert

Here are some of my favorites:

Vietnamese:
Thanh Thao - 4005 S.E. Hawthorne - 503-238-6232
Thanh Thao II - 8355 S.E. Powell - 503-775-0306

My Vietnames friends say these are the best in PDX. First one more popular (you may wait a bit).. I've never waited at "II".

Mexican/Salvadoran:
El Palenque - 8324 S.E. 17th - 503-231-5140

Family/neighborhood atmosphere... friendly staff.

BBQ:
Wacky Czaba's - 5907 N. Lombard - 503-240-0615

Best BBQ in town.

Burgers:
Elusive Trout Pub - 39333 Proctor Blvd (Hwy 26 Westbound) 503-668-7884 (In Sandy, OR)

Sandy is about 35 miles east of downtown PDX on US 26. If you like burgers, it's worth thr drive... and if the weather is clear, a beautiful view of Mt Hood greets you as you're heading east.

All of the above are very reasonably priced.

Enjoy.

Try this guide:

They've got a Portland page with a couple dozen restaurants. Menus, photos, etc. and you can make reservations on-line.

Enjoy,
