For fun and inexpensive I'd go to: Alexis (on West Burnside at NW 2nd) for good Greek foor and lively atmosphere Bijou Cafe (on SW Pine and 3rd) very Northwest and good spot for breakfast Pizzacato (NW 23rd and Flanders) for great yuppie pizza (and the owners are friends) Bridgeport Brew Pub (on NW Marshall at NW 13th) for a true Portland experience of great pizza - non-froufrou variety - and local microbrew made on the spot Coffee People (on NW 23rd at Hoyt) Portland's original antedote to the ubiquitious Starbucks Sante (on SE Division and 30th?) for excellent creative food - organic, vegan, sustainably grown, non-veggie...something for everyone Hubers (on SW 1st and ?) for a terrific Spanish coffee in Portland's oldest restaurant. Dan and Louis's Oyster Bar is one of the oldest continually operating restaurants in Portland. They serve some of the most delicious oysters in the world (IMO), all from their own beds in Yaquina Bay on the Oregon coast. If you enjoy oysters, this is a great place to eat well and turn the clock back for an hour or two. The restaurant is on SW Ankeny just south of Burnside and just west of the Willamette river (about 10 blocks east of Powell's book store). Chris Prael

I don't know where you are coming from, but Portland is a great town to eat out in! We don't dress up alot, but be sure to bring a raincoat and umbrella. A favorite ethnic restaurant of mine is called Abou Karim's on Pine Street in the downtown area. The food is Lebanese, the atmosphere is very friendly, the food is excellent (be sure to try the chicken kabobs with garlic), and best of all it is very reasonably priced at about $10.006 per dinner. Another fun place to eat is called Marrekesh Restaurant. Slightly more expensive but come with a big appetite, and be prepared to sit on the floor( no chairs) and use your fingers to eat( no utensils)--fun, fun!!This restaurant is in the Northwest part Portland. Another fun place in the Northwest section of town is Basta Pasta, delicious. Well, hope you enjoy your visit here. Go to Saturday Market for good lunches, and Cafe DuBerry for the most amazing French toast you have ever eaten (a bit pricey- $8.00). Have Fun: Bon Appetite!
