They don't take reservations, so expect a wait. Milano's Deli (Brown St., near Univ. of Dayton) has the best submarine sandwiches (italian style). The rolls are very close to the real thing like you get in Philadelphia. Antonio's (Rt. 48 and 725, in Centerville) has excellent Italian food in a good atmosphere at reasonable prices ($9-17 or so).More than just the standard red sauce fare. Fricker's has the best Buffalo Wings, we go to the one on South Dixie but the one on Woodman is good also. Skyline Chili - if you like Cinci style chili, try this. Go to the one near the Dayton Mall - the others (near U.D. and in Centerville) are not nearly as good. The Grub Steak (N. Main, alias SR 48) is a good basic restaraunt. It's got a real nice pork tenderloin, and everyone likes their stewed tomatoes. Prices $7-$14 except for the seafood which I'd avoid here. Charlie's Crab is a good seafood restaraunt even though it's a chain. It's downtown at Arcade Square. Jay's is the best seafood in town I've heard but I haven't been there. The Spaghetti Warehouse is good pasta downtown (W. 5th). Good eats! -Mike Dedek From Mon Aug 10 20:37:51 EDT 1992

Dayton has a plethora of dark and smelly old-fashioned bust your-gut kinda eaterys: you know, iceberg salads or coleslaw from Sysco, lots of meat and potatoes. The Pine Club wins hands down for meat eaters who can take this kind of stuff: the meat (purportedly) is excellent, and supposedly the scallops are not bad either. Go there if you must! However, for the more adventurous there is: PQ International. A 4 on decor, but some of the best ethnic/veggie food around (Spanish leanings, that means Paella night on Thursdays and things like Colombian/Caribbean/Yucatan on others). The Winds. In Yellow Springs, radical center of the whole damn state of Ohio (home to Antioch U. and the local Green party!). The Winds serves fresh food, simply and exquisitely prepared. Things like black bean soup, Jerk chicken, Tuscan tuna (grilled with fennel), etc. There are only 4 or 5 choices on the menu each month - but a decent sampling always - as well as a standard house omelette. Truffles. In Cross Point Center (Mall) and/or Books&Co (well, you have to visit Books & Company, anyway!) California style cafeteria. Excellent. Also serving fresh, homemade food. Little Saigon. On Woodman - not a long drive from NCR, really. Real Vietnamese. And, though I haven't been there, a Chinese friend tells me that Happy Palace, also on Woodman, I think, is excellent for Chinese--- though for $3.00 you can cruise down Far Hills/ Main St/State Rte. 48 to Centerville and get a whole meal -appetizers, soup, entree, rice, tea, cookie-at lunch at the Hunan Gourmet. And you'll take some home! (Great, even in a hotel, for a midnight snack.) Elizabeth. You may look me up at WHQ when you get here, if you want. From Fri Aug 28 19:57:25 EDT 1992
