Flying Burrito in Chapel Hill is by far the BEST Mexican food to be found in the triangle. Don't give up until after you try this one!!!! Everything on their menu is good - especially their homemade picante.

The best MEXICAN restaurant - FLYING BURRITO

I've been there a number of times in the past 3 years, and I've never been too impressed. Their food is decent. I'd rate it "good" by local standards (which are pretty pale), but I definitely don't consider it the best in the area. I took my girlfriend there twice... her assessment was less kind than mine. Service there has often been slow. Some friends of mine have speculated that if you order alcohol, the restaurant delays bringing your dinners in hopes that you'll order more alcohol (because refills are, of course, NOT free). My friends have tried to "test" this hypothesis; I don't know if they've reached a conclusion yet. On my past few visits, I've been disappointed by the size of the portions they serve. They charge too much for the quantity of food, *especially* since they don't serve complimentary chips with your meal. As I've said before, I consider any Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve free chips to be in the same category as Taco Bell. I'll keep going back to Bandido's (in Chapel Hill), where the food is tastier, the portions are bigger, the service is better, the bill is smaller, and the chips are free!
