My wife and I dined at Nana's recently after nearly a year away. Judging by our dining experience, we waited way too long to return. Since we choose hearty entrees, we split a mixed green salad with a wine vinaigrette as our starter.
Entrees were delivered soon after finishing our salad. My wife had lamb medallions with a garlic wine sauce, thyme scented sweet potatoes, and slightly undercooked haricot verts. We prefer green crunchy beans but these could have used another minutes to reduce the starchy taste. I opted for venison medallions in a slightly sweeter wine and currant sauce, with a crispy potato gratin, and sauteed swiss chard. Both dishes were excellent with the meat cooked exactly medium rare as ordered.
We split Scott's famous creme brulee for dessert. With a nice 98 Cab the bill with 20% tip totaled $150. Pricey but an excellent dining experience worthy of this price point. The service, as always, was attentive, informative, but never pretentious.
We still rate Nana's as one of the triangle's very best; in an elite group with Bloomsbury, Fins, Second Empire, and a few others. On a side note, Sara Moulton from the Food Network was dining one table away from us.
