Papas Grill

Went to Papas Grill for the first time on Dec. 30th. I'd been looking forward to trying it, having heard good reviews, but was disappointed overall. Some aspects were excellent: good salad, good coffee, great vegetables (i.e., not overcooked). The agvolemono was decent. The roast leg of lamb was very good, but not outstanding, partly because a kind of artichoke sauce, a good sauce, blanketed every item on the plate -- lamb, vegetables, and potato -- effectively eliminating the uniqueness of each food. Though the other wait staff seemed to be doing a pretty good job, our waitress was dismal. She never told us about any of the specials available (one of which my companion would have had if he had known it existed). She presented herself so indifferently, and was so ignorant about what the kitchen produced that I wondered how she had managed to make it past her first week on the job. (When we asked another waitress if there were any specials, she only managed to remember the roast lamb, which was a daily special every Friday.)

Maybe it was just a bad night, but I was expecting a lot more for the prices and the reviews. Has anyone else been disappointed at Papas Grill, or does anyone have any suggestions for a second visit? I would like to give them another try sometime -- but it probably won't be my first choice for an evening out for a while!
