Interesting and innovative as in New Orleans or San Francisco Seafood is not found on the Outer Banks. A seafood place you could try is the Dunes, located around milepost 15 or so. It has good quality food and is not into all you can eat meals. Our favorite place is the "Weeping Radish" which is located in Maneto which is across the Sound from Nags Head. It is a German Restaurant, pub, beer garden. They brew their own beer and it is very good. The food is as good as any I had in Munich during my say there.
North Carolina
Nags Head restaurants?

Be sure & at least do breakfast at Sam & Omies near the avalon pier...as llate as 1980 this was the ONLY restaurant open year round on the outer banks...also make the 20 minute drive to Wanchese for dinner one night... enjoy, rob z.

We've found at least 2 *very* good restaurants that have food such as that found in large cities. One is Elizabeth's in Duck. It's a teeny place and we were lucky to get in the night we did. The menu is upscale and the food very good. You can also sit outside if it's not too hot. The other place is the Collington Cafe, on the road out to Collington Harbor. It's in a house and the food is also very good and different. Not fried seafood or buffet. There's another place called Finely Ron's in a shopping center in Nag's Head. The woman who owned the B&B that we used to stay at always highly recommended it but because it was in a shopping center, we never went. One more. The food goes up and down - last time it was better than previous visits. The restaurant in the Sanderling Inn in Sanderling. The Inn is beautiful and we've stayed there a few times (altho the service leaves a lot to be desired). We've eaten there twice and both times it was very good but from what everyone says, you takes your chances with that particular place. Nags Head is a beautiful place - we're going for a week in July. Hope you fall in love with it as we have!

Try Blue Point in Duck.
