If you enjoy the wood fired type of cooking, Stamies's in Greensboro is great. We had barbecue there about two months ago, and I recommend it highly. Still, when I bite into Barbecue Lodge's barbecue and it tastes liked smoked butter, I doubt if it can get much better than that. I also like their topping sauce. It's apple cider vinegar mixed half and half with Texas Pete. There's crushed pepper is in it also, but it isn't too hot.

We live in the Greensboro/High Point area, and Country BBQ on Wendover is much better than Stamey's. We never eat Stamey's since we found Country BBQ. We always either eat it in the car or bring it home as it is pretty smoky inside - even their non smoking section is real smoky. Good BBQ though! Speedy's BBQ in the city of Lexington is good, too, and less expensive than 'Lexington BBQ' on I-85 which we find grossly over priced.

Not quite triangle, but...

Interesting - our hang gliding club flew at the county airport near Lexington (exit 88 off I-85 South) this past weekend. We had lunch at a BBQ place just across the interstate from the airport - the airport manager said people sometimes fly in just to have lunch at the restaurant. Was this Speedy's or Lexington BBQ (or neither)?

It was a small old place across from a convenience store, but I thought it had pretty good cue, about $7 for a large tray with fries, slaw and hushpuppies. I'd never seen a place offer "chopped" and "coarse chopped" plates before. The difference was pretty obvious in the meat, and I think I prefer the finer chopped pork (I tried the coarse). Their fries were GREAT. The slaw... well, it was very interesting, but wasn't what I expected: a very dark color, quite puree'd and very spicy too, even spicier than the BBQ sauce. I love hot food and it just didn't seem like the two sauces were getting along. Since the airport manager invited us back, we'll probably be going there again, so I'd be interested in which restaurant was which...
