I found this little hole-in-the-wall place only a mile or so from my house. They make wonderful subs, but they're almost always empty. I was hoping if I mentioned it to this group, some people might head out there and give them a try. (And thus keep them in business so I can keep getting great food. :) ) The place is "Brady Brothers Frozen Custard and Subs", 6320 Capital Blvd, in Plantation Square Shopping Center. Plantation square is at the corner of Old Wake Forest Rd and Capital Blvd, just after the K-mart heading North. They are next door to the Post office in the middle of the strip. I've been there twice now. Both times, I got the 8" Italian Sub. The sub has Salami, Pepperoni, Cappacuola, and Ham, with one cheese of your choice. The meat is sliced fresh and layered solid to over 1/2 inch thick. Add veggies and condiments and I end up with enough for two meals out of the 8" sub (and I usually eat an entire 12" subway sub in one sitting.) Prices are more than reasonable for the quantity. That 8" sub is $4.30 or add $0.75 for a side slaw/potato salad and a bag of chips to finish the meal. They have a decent variety of other sandwiches, I just have a thing for a good italian sub. My wife had the corned-beef and cheese sandwich, on rye of course, and she said it was also excellent. They also do deserts (as you might have guessed). With soft-serve frozen custard, with toppings, as sundaes, or in shakes. The Cherry milkshake was OK, (they used sweet cherries, where I prefer sour) and my friends liked the pineapple, butterscotch, and chocolate shakes they got. Also, this is basically a take-out place. They have no seating inside, although I suspect they could add a couple tables if they wanted to. If you are looking for something better than the chain sub shops (Jersey Mike/Subway) or you live in N Raleigh and want a place that rivals the sandwiches from Cappi's in the park, please go out and give this place a try. I'd really hate to see such a good place go under just because no one ever found them. Charles (for the record, I have no affiliation with this restaurant other than being a satisfied customer. Address information came from the copy of their menu that I have with me while I type this.)
