that the first lunch we had there was OK and that the food/service were fine. About a week later, we took my son and his fiancee there for supper. . .

The waitress was talking to some guy seated at the bar. After we'd been seated for about 5 minutes, she walked over and got our drink order- stopping back at the bar to visit before turning it in. After the drinks were ready, she then brought us chips and salsa together with the drinks.

The entire meal was SLOW-SLOW-SLOW, with us virtually having to "wave" to get the waitresses attention for refills. It didn't seem to be just her, since we saw other patrons in other parts of the place doing the same thing.

The food we FINALLY got was OK, but was nothing to brag about. Like you, we noticed a lot of grease- and frankly, it didn't taste very fresh. Needless to say, there was a $1 tip for the waitress.

Damn it, we really need a good mexican restaurant here in North Raleigh and the last two (We about died off at El Rincon and still laugh about it when driving past its virtually empty parking lot) seem to be fizzles. Before El Dorado, there was that horrible Coyote restaurant in the same spot.

It was really funny that I'd comment on its dried out, overcooked foods, tiny drinks and runny beans and some gal would immediately write about how SHE really just loved the place. I was suspicious that it was the owner's wife or girlfriend, since she never surfaced except to flame me for saying something negative about the Coyote. Apparently I wasn't off base, since it fizzled in short order. <grin>
