Try the Possum Trot (no kidding) in downtown Asheville. Reasonable prices for good New Orleans style food.

When I was there, I went to a nice place called The Latin Quarter (I think). It had cuban/Spanish, etc.

Not what you'd expect in Asheville, but it was good.

I would definately recommend McGuffey's on Tunnel Road in Asheville. I moved from Asheville several years ago and this is the place I miss most. Good variety of food - I guess you would call it "American" (steaks, sandwiches, some oriental-influenced dishes). Highest quality of service I have ever experienced in any restaurant anywhere. Probably $10 to $15 per person at dinner. They used to have a great early-bird special prior to 6pm, probably still do.

The family that owns this restaurant has several others in the area with slightly different cuisines. I'm not sure of the names.

If you have any questions regarding a specific type of restaurant, I'd be happy to let you know more.

Try the Windmill European Grill in the Innsbruck Mall on Tunnel Road
(a classic European Grill with a good Indian sub-menu)

and La Caterina Trattoria on Pack Square (good Italian food) ... phone 254-1148
